Celebrating the life of
Annie Lea Cogdell
Passed away on June 20, 2016
SAVANNAH – Annie Lea Cogdell, 36, died Monday, June 20, 2016. Annie was born in Savannah, Georgia on August 25, 1979, the daughter of W. Donald Cogdell, Jr. and Joyce Ann Grotheer Leaf. She is survived by her parents, stepparents (Barbara Cogdell and Hunter Leaf, III), her sister Caity, and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Grotheer and Mrs. Joanne Leaf (Hunter Leaf, Jr.). Her beloved grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W. Donald Cogdell, precede her in death.
Annie loved music and theatre and was active in the Savannah Theatre until she left Savannah to attend the Aveda Institute in Minneapolis to study cosmetology. After graduation from Aveda, she moved to Charleston SC where she worked in that field for several years. While in Charleston she continued to be active in local theatres in lighting production.
She left Charleston to chase her dreams in New York City. She was the stage manager for a traveling production of children’s plays that traveled throughout the United States. Following this stint, she became an instructor in the Aveda Institute in New York. While employed with Aveda, she also worked as a makeup artist for various fashion shows.
She had a heart of gold and would give all that she had to others with less. She loved animals and was a lifetime “collector” of stray cats and dogs.
All who knew her loved her – she will be missed by so many. A private memorial service will be held by her family. Remembrances may be sent to the Reed House or the Savannah Humane Society.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your loved one. The best Friend a bereaved person can have is our Creator, Jehovah God. Pour out your heart to him in prayer because “he cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7) Moreover, he promises that all who do so will have their thoughts and feelings soothed by “the peace of God that surpasses all understanding.” (Philippians 4:6, 7)

I was saddened to read of the loss of your loved one. When we lose our loved one in death it is the most difficult time in our life. However, there is loving comfort in Psalms 55:22 to “throw your burden on God and he will sustain you..” Yes, no matter what you are facing God is there to help you get through it. May you continue to have the love and support from family and friends. I sincerely hope that this Bible message brings you a measure of comfort during this difficult time.
